I just had a quick look and as far as I can tell HDRIs are still working as expected.
Would it be possible for you to send a sample file with this problem to me at contact@cyclesformax.net? I can have a look at it and see what is going on.

A quick thought on this. Make sure you don't have the 'transparent sky' option checked. That option will make it so the sky is completely blacked out.

Hey, nice work on bringing cycles to Max. In terms of parity. Would you say that cycles is similar to what was present on 2.79, 2.8, etc?

Right now it is based on the code from Blender 2.82.

Thanks so much for porting Cycles! Is there any plan to port EEVEE as well... I think with the current EEVEE update for SSGI it would be even more unique for 3ds max!

It would be very cool to bring EEVEE to Max, but that isn't something I would be able to do with this plugin. With how fast Blender is moving these days I'm already barely managing to keep up with just the changes on the Cycles side.

I can't put an HDRI on "Environment setting" it doesn't work in this version, but without counting on that, very good job bringing the Cycles to 3DS Max.
